U14 Inter Area Hockey Tournament 17 March 2010
Having triumphed in the Area Tournament RGS went onto represent
RGS started the competition very well with a 2 . 1 win against York & Selby district. There was lots of good passing from the midfielders and very good defence from Sally Ingram, Julia Matyear.and Kimberley Hagues. RGS scored two goals in the second half to come back from a one goal deficit with goals from Ruby Beardsall and Esther Walpole.
In the second match aginst Richmond & Hambleton, RGS played well but were not getting in front of the ball and spacing out. However the defence stayed strong but had a few slips causing two goals to be scored by
2 . 0.
In the last match against Scarborough & Ryedale, RGS started slowly and went two goals down but we showed amazing fight, and two great goals from Ruby Beardsall and Rosie Lyall earned RGS a thoroughly deserved 2 .2 draw.
The outstanding player, and therefore player of the tournament was Emma Frost.
A great team performance saw RGS finish as runners up. Well done to all!

U13 Area Hockey Tournament
On a very cold and windy afternoon the U13s played some great hockey to finish in third position in the Area Tournament. An unlucky early goal against Ashville meant that Ashville went on to win the competition though RGS dominated much of the game. Overall, a performance to be proud of and one on which to build.
