Physics: Year 9 Summary

Topic: 9a Light (7 lessons)

  1. Review previous work on light (reflection, refraction, lenses etc.) include review of sound
  2. Total internal reflection, optic fibres.
  3. Dispersion (brief mention of extended spectrum- but no details)
  4. Colour- primary and secondary colours, mixing colours
  5. Colour- mixing, look at TV screen,
  6. Colour filters and reflection from surfaces
  7. Power point, Ishihara cards. Stroop effect. Colour video

Topic 9b Motion (8 lessons)

  1. Speed. Measure and calculate (ruler and stopwatch)
  2. Reaction times. Measure and discuss consequences
  3. Measure speed with data loggers
  4. Newton ’s first law: balanced forces- video, air track, bike sheet
