Just the job: sixth formers host careers fair for younger students

SIXTH formers at Ripon Grammar School have been helping guide younger students as they plan for their futures.

More than 40 students hosted a careers fair, spread over four days, offering advice and information to those embarking on the final year of their GCSE courses.

Around 14 student-led societies - from design & engineering to healthcare, veterinary surgery, law, architecture and computing - were represented at the event.

Students spoke about the skills, A-level subjects, qualifications and experiences they need to be successful in further learning and employment in each sector.

Deputy head of sixth form Helen Nelson said: “It’s fabulous to see sixth form students advising our Year 10 students on the combination of A-levels and UCAS points needed for competitive courses, as well as the importance of GCSEs.

“This is part of RGS’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to raise aspirations, develop employability skills and make informed choices about their futures.”
