As promised at our induction event, we would like to provide some extra opportunities to the new Lower Sixth students for wider reading (or listening) both related to your subject areas, and on wider issues. This kind of intellectual curiosity and independent interest for learning is a quality we see in our most successful students, and we would encourage you to dip in and explore over the summer.
We hope you enjoy your reading! Please follow the following links to find out more..
Speakers for Schools are offering access to their extensive library of previous presentations which are free to students. Presenters range from the Governor of the Bank of England to Big Narstie; Robert Peston to Dr Maria Faraone, and they cover topics both careers and industry based, to the creative arts and E-sports.
TEd Talks provide some fantastic thought provoking talks which we use as part of our Enrichment Programme. We explore a huge range of issues and ideas during your time in the sixth form, from the mundane skills required to navigate adult life, to skills that will help you to be happy and successful in your studies, all the way to the big questions that make us fully embrace our own and others’ humanity. Please do take some time to watch these talks and hopefully explore some other new ones yourself.
Finally, some information to Broaden your Horizons courtesy of our amazing Library team, Mrs Dring and Miss Szcserbinska. This includes links to scholarly articles, RGS Online Resources, Fake News consequences and a range of podcasts by subject.
