Students enjoyed picking apples in nearby Newby Hall's fantastic orchard and made the most of their bumper harvest when they got back to school, where they created lots of delicious apple-based treats with Mrs Sala. From a trip to Flamingo Land to Bollywood dancing, scroll down for a flavour of what else they've been up to this month
Students enjoyed a day full of fun, thrills and laughter at Yorkshire's Flamingo Land theme park and award-winning zoo. Sik, a high thrill rollercoaster which features ten awesome loops, was the crowd favourite - with students amused to see that Mr Turner had his eyes closed for the duration! Other top attractions included the high rise vertical swing ride, Pterodactyl, where students spun around at 150 feet in the air, and Velocity, the UK's only motorbike launch coaster, which hurls riders at lightning speeds. After hours on the rides and plenty of time perusing the lions, tigers, cheetahs, giraffes and rhinos in the zoo, everyone enjoyed a live music and dance performance, with our enthusiastic sixth form boys demonstrating some surprisingly good moves. The evening ended on another high, with a spectacular firework display - the perfect end to a pretty perfect day out!
Our boarding students are a talented lot, from creating their own Christmas designs to be printed onto mug, gift wraps, cards and notebooks (with the help of Steph Crookston of the Imagination Centre), to making stunning garden lanterns - their creativity knows no bounds!
Thank you to Indian tearoom Realitea owner Sarita McDermott, who delivered a Bollywood dance session to our termly boarders, joined by a few day students visiting their boarding friends. Sarita wore a stunning dress in red, which signifies love, and also brought one of her delicious home-made Victoria sponge cakes for after the session. Thank you, Sarita!
Boarding students enjoy evening activities in the gym, learning to step out of their comfort zones and take on a challenge - with lots of fun and laughter too
