A GIFTED young footballer has been selected for the Harrogate and Craven district team following competitive trials.
Kiera Abel, who has ambitions to play professionally, admits she didn’t think she would make it following two trials over two weeks, up against a large number of other hopefuls.
“I was overwhelmed and absolutely buzzing when I received the news,” she said. “My friends were so supportive and really pleased for me.”
The 12-year-old Arsenal supporter, from Ripon, plays for Killinghall Nomads and describes her grandmother as her biggest supporter: “She comes to every training session and matches.”
The centre midfielder, who is currently still training and playing friendly matches with Killinghall now that the season is over, also enjoys running, rounders, rugby, netball, hockey and cricket at school.
Inspired by Arsenal and England player Beth Mead, Kiera will begin training and playing tournaments for Harrogate and Craven in July.
