THERE was laughter and tears as students spoke, performed and gave out awards during their last assembly, marking the end of an era before breaking up for study leave and GCSE exams.
Teachers paid tribute, including Mr Barker, who said: "You are the future. You will be the leaders of tomorrow. It fills me with so much confidence in a world with so much turbulence - you are a fantastic generation."
Mrs Stoker said: "You can do difficult things, your story is just beginning - and the world needs your spark."
Student Lewis Campbell told his year group: "Today marks the end of an important chapter in everyone's lives. Sitting in front of me I see different paths to the future. I see doctors, scientists, architects, politicians, farmers, tradespeople, a member of the armed forces - the list just goes on. But what I see overall if leaders of tomorrow.
"If there's one thing to take away from our experience of this school it's that life's like roads and roundabouts, there's always more than one route to go, everyone's route's their own, there's no one direction. It's your route and your destination. You should find a route that makes you happy and stick to it, become who you want to be. If it doesn't work out, go back and try again."
Our fantastic Year 11 Leavers' Band won rousing applause for their performance of Mr Blue Sky by the Electric Light Orchestra.
Best of luck to Year 11 in their exams and we look forward to welcoming many of you back into sixth form at RGS!
