Budding young mathematician gets the numbers she hoped for

A BUDDING young mathematician is celebrating winning the numbers she’d hoped for in her GCSE results.

Ripon Grammar School student Leena Athab achieved nine grade 9s and three grade 8s.

The 16-year-old, from Melmerby, plans to study maths at university following A-levels in maths, further maths, economics and physics.

The talented pianist, who is also working towards her Grade 5 in piano, said: “I am very pleased with my results, especially given how harsh the grade boundaries have been this year.”
