Record numbers excel in national music exams

A RECORD number of RGS students have achieved exceptional results in national music exams.

A total of 47 students passed Associated Board of Royal School of Music, Trinity and Rock School instrumental, vocal and theory music exams at all levels from grade 1 to grade 8. 

Director of music Michael Barker said: "This is a superb achievement and shows the high level of musicianship and commitment to music that these students have. All students passed their exams with pass, merit or distinction. 

"A massive well done to ALL students who took these exams at all levels and we look forward to your further achievements."

Notable achievements, all at distinction level, include:

Kareem Said – Grade 3 Theory

William Bellaries – Grade 5 Theory and Grade 5 Piano

Samuel Mulligan – Grade 5 Theory

Sverrir Pani – Grade 1 Drums

Felix Smith – Grade 1 Guitar

Reuben Harford – Grade 3 Trombone

Joe Davis – Grade 8 Voice

Leo Green – Grade 8 Violin
