Singer Izzy's big break

HUGE congratulations to past pupil and budding actress and singer Izzy Kirby who performed at the finale of the Horse of the Year Show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

Former boarding student Izzy is studying musical theatre at the Urdang Academy in London.

"I'm so grateful to have been chosen to sing at the Horse of the Year Show at the NEC, it was a brilliant experience but also terrifying. I absolutely loved every second and really hope to go on to do more performances like this in the future."

Izzy, who left RGS in 2022, won a scholarship to Tring Park School for Performing Arts in Year 11 to study musical theatre, after attending Upstage Academy in Ripon: "I loved every single second," she says.

"We did lots of performances and training at Tring and it was the most amazing place ever, I learnt so much."

Following her two-year course at Tring, Izzy moved on to a bachelor of arts degree course in professional musical theatre at Urdang, where she is now in her second year.

"It's brilliant, really intense, but I love every day," she says.

"After Urdang I'll be going into the crazy world of this industry, with auditions and agents, which is exciting but scary. I adore acting and absoloutely anything to do with the stage."

She hopes to perform on a West End stage and also in film and on TV one day.

Her dream roles include Mary Poppins, Roxie Hart in Chicago and Sybil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers: "I also hope to sing in bars, pubs and at weddings alongside my training, especially anything with jazz."
