SIXTH FORM: Earthquake disaster appeal

Students, staff and RGS families rallied round when sixth formers hastily arranged a cake sale to raise money for the Turkey and Syria earthquake disaster appeal

ORGANISER Lucy Laycock, who wanted to do something to help from the moment she saw the disaster unfold, said: "The whole school community - students, staff and parents - came together to try to make a difference."

The sixth former, who worked with Rachal Ogier and Lulu Bromley to organise the event and hopes to do more in the future, thanked all those who baked and helped man the stalls and those who bought and contributed to the appeal which raised £300 for the British Red Cross appeal.

"The money raised will go towards helping to provide shelter kits, food, water and first aid and support further search efforts. Every donation was greatly appreciated."
