MORE than 130 Year 10 RGS students got a head start on planning for their future as they met with employers and education providers to discuss the wide range of options open to them.
Split into groups, students were given ten minutes to extract the information they wanted as they moved around a carousel of around 20 representatives from a range of sectors.
Representatives from engineering to finance, the forces, hospitality, law and medicine talked about their role, industry and careers.
Students were also able to explore alternative pathways including apprenticeships and other post-16 courses.
The event provided a fantastic opportunity to discover more about what various jobs and roles involve, find out how each of the companies go about recruiting employees, and pick up top tips on how to be successful.
The students, who will be doing their work experience in May, also honed their research and interview skills at the event, said head of careers Bob Walker.
“It has helped build their confidence, providing excellent preparation for their work experience and also opened their eyes the range of options and choices open to them on leaving school,” he added.
