Tiggy at Box Architects. Here she can be seen designing a tiny house suitable for single person occupancy.

Ian Catherall, director, said: "At Box we always try to give our Work Experience students a valuable insight into the world of architecture and construction so that it can help with making informed decisions about their career.

"Tiggy’s first task with us (after she attended our Monday morning management meeting) was to design a small ‘Sitooterie’ (Scottish for a place to sit and contemplate life) in close proximity to our office. This introduces the student to the critical thinking required of an architect. She has chosen and analysed a site, written a brief, reviewed precedents and created a design that meets the requirements of her brief as well as belonging to the site chosen.

"Usually this will be enough for a student for week however Tiggy managed this in three days, so she has now been tasked with a more ambitious design!

"At the end of her week here she will be able to take away a portfolio of her work as well as other key documentation relevant to architectural practice which should be useful for University interviews etc. I do hope she does decide to pursue architecture as a career and if she ever needs further advice and guidance then she can always contact us in the future.

I will be writing a reference for her to takeaway with her pack too."

Sophie has been bud rubbing and shoot thinning at Dunesforde Vineyard. Volunteer coordinator Mandy Townsend said: "Sophie has been in the office looking for corporate contacts who might enjoy a team building day at a vineyard and helping in the vineyard with bud rubbing and shoot thinning. It’s been a pleasure having her with us this week, I hope she enjoys the experience and has learnt some interesting things that she didn’t know before."
