GCSE Results 2017

The results were superb once again this year with more than 60% of the grades being A*/A (or equivalent) for the sixth year in a row. 100% of the students secured 5A*-C grades including mathematics and English. In maths and English, numbers rather than letters were awarded for the first time and it was very pleasing to see 36 students achieving a grade 9 in mathematics with 19 students also achieving a grade 9 in English language. These results provide an outstanding foundation for success at A-level for the year group and I would like to congratulate both staff and students on their success. They should be very proud of what they have achieved and the results are just reward for all their hard work.

44 out of 130 students (over a third) achieved 10 A*/A grades (or better) allowing for a grade 7 in English or mathematics to be equivalent to an A. They were: Gus Smith, Oliver Parry, Kate Reeve, Marcus Tomlinson, Alex Trayer, Thaddeus Davey, Laura Donaldson, Henry Exley, Poppy Jagger, Emma Kelly, Tom Mewes, Marina Mitra, Pippa Tanner, Lucy Williams, Joe Willis, Libby Rickard, Sola Sowole, Harry Edwards, Niamh Frost, Joel Ho, Joseph Horner, Dan Marston, Emma Money, Poppy Robinson, Georgina Turner, Hugh Whitworth, Emily Wilson, Evie Withington, Poppy Abbott, Kathryn Barrett, Harry Canning, Connor Eddleston, Alex Edwards , Bethany Hamby, Katherine Hooper, Billy Hughes, Harvey Leak-Smith, Megan Lewis, Natasha Lovel, Jonathan McCann, Millie Simenacz, Louise Taylor, Ted Wainwright and Sophie Winkle.

These results follow a very successful set of results at A-level last week which placed RGS as the highest performing state school in Yorkshire and the North East. The hard work begins again with students returning to school in September to commence their A level courses. We wish them well.
