Aspiring medics prepare for interviews

ASPIRING sixth form medical students took part in an intense round of interviews designed to prepare them for real medical school interviews.

The five-minute interview scenarios ranged from having to break bad news to a patient, instructing someone on how to tie a shoe lace and discussions around various medical and ethical scenarios.

These are all designed to allow students to demonstrate their empathy and communication skills in a range of situations. All received valuable feedback on their performance.

Family doctor Dr Chris Preece, who headed up the sessions, has has supported RGS students for well over a decade said head of careers Bob Walker: "Without Dr Preece's enduring support and the assistance of eight other medics, these sessions would not be possible."

He added: "I would like to thank all the doctors for giving up their valuable time, together with sixth form student Jessica Forbes-Bell, who helped to organise and run a very successful session."
