Nancy gets the right verdict

ASPIRING barrister Nancy Manners has received the perfect verdict - securing a place at Oxford University with four A*s at A-level.

The 18-year-old from Pickhill achieved top grades in French, English literature, maths and religious studies and will now study French and English literature at Oxford, with her sights set on a career at the Bar.

Nancy founded Ripon Grammar School’s Debating Society in Year 9 and has run it ever since, serving as co-chair in her final year.

She said the experience had been invaluable in teaching her how to balance competing commitments - a skill she hopes will serve her well in the legal profession.

“I am so proud of my results. I know I gave it everything I had, and can’t say how happy I am that it’s all paid off,” she said.
