RGS students help shape North Yorkshire 's transport future

Our students have been having their say on the future of transport in their county, reports Mr WALKER

SIXTH form students at Ripon Grammar School have been given the chance to help shape the future of transport across North Yorkshire.

The students took part in a county-wide consultation, as part of an initiative instigated by the Mayor of North Yorkshire, David Skaith.

Representatives James Bailey and Elecktra Lapavitsas visited RGS to explain the background to the study and how young people can contribute to the county’s plans for the future.

Students were presented with a range of scenarios and asked to consider what changes could be made to transport systems and what other improvements might be needed across North Yorkshire.

The consultation is designed to gather views from a wide range of people and communities across the county over the coming months, helping to build a picture of how transport could better meet the needs of North Yorkshire in the future.

James and Elecktra are also hoping to have a stand at the RGS Careers Fair on March 18, providing an opportunity for parents, students and members of the wider school community to share their views on transport and connectivity across the county.

The session gave RGS students a valuable opportunity to have their voices heard on an issue that will directly affect their education, employment and everyday lives in the years ahead.
