RGS students to help put Ripon in the spotlight

RGS sixth formers are teaming up with Ripon Together to showcase local businesses, reports Mr WALKER

A NEW group of Ripon Grammar School sixth formers is taking up the challenge of helping to showcase the businesses and organisations that make Ripon special.

Following a successful collaboration between RGS sixth form students and Ripon Together last year, a new group of students is getting involved with the community initiative this academic year.

As part of the project, students will become roving reporters, visiting businesses in and around Ripon to find out more about the products and services they provide. They will interview local business owners and share their stories, helping to shine a spotlight on the range of businesses that contribute to the city.

The students will also have the opportunity to run their owntrade stand at the Ripon Green Fair, organised by the Ripon Together team.

The Green Fair takes place on Saturday October 17, 2026, from 10am to 3pm at Allhallowgate Methodist Church Hall, Ripon.

The project gives students the chance to develop their communication and interviewing skills while connecting with the local community and learning more about the businesses on their doorstep.
