A TALENTED dancer was jumping for joy after achieving stellar A-level results.
Isabel Burningham, 18, from Ripon, achieved A*, A, B in biology and chemistry and art, in addition to a grade A in her AS level maths.
She has won a place to study dentistry at Newcastle University: “I’m so glad all my hard work has paid off and I’m so excited to move to Newcastle in September,” she said.
The teenager, who has been dancing competitively since she was eight years old with Switch dance school in Ripley, was honoured to perform at Blackpool Tower Ballroom in March.
She juggled her studies with dancing, netball and a part-time waitressing job: “At the beginning of lower sixth form, I made the decision to continue to train with my dance team outside of school despite the stressful dentistry application process.
“I’m so happy that I made this decision despite the regular rehearsals and competitions. Continuing to dance not only meant that I could distract myself from the stresses of sixth form, but also make some amazing memories.
“Performing with my team in Blackpool Tower Ballroom was an incredible experience which I have always wanted to do since I was little and I am so grateful for it!
“I’ve absolutely loved sixth form and have formed some amazing friendships which will last a lifetime. I’ll really miss Ripon Grammar School but I’m excited to move to Newcastle in September.”
