Nadine sets her sights on nationals

RIPON Grammar School swimmer Nadine Wilson is preparing to compete at prestigious regional championships as she sets her sights on the nationals.

This follows a series of successful high-level galas where the 16-year-old tested herself against international and Olympic athletes, achieving personal best times in the process.

The hard-working athlete, from Dishforth, was also selected for a training camp in Spain, a vital platform towards the training programme for national competitions.

So far in 2024, she has already competed at Edinburgh’s International Meet, County Championships and the Sunderland National Qualifier Meet as she prepares for her ultimate goal.

If the regional open championships on May 4-6, being held at Sunderland Aquatic Centre and attracting swimmers up to university age from Yorkshire, Northumberland and beyond, go well, she hopes to be competing at the nationals in Sheffield over the summer.

Dedicated Nadine’s gruelling training schedule consists of 16hrs of swim sessions and three hours of strength and conditioning sessions every week, training before and after school most days.

Her main events are 100fly, 200fly, 100back, 200back.
