RGS artists take on Paris

RGS sixth formers have immersed themselves in the art, architecture and culture of Paris during an inspiring trip to the French capital.

The visit offered students the opportunity to experience some of the world’s most celebrated artistic treasures first-hand, bringing their classroom studies to life while discovering the rich cultural heritage of one of Europe’s great artistic centres.

The packed itinerary included visits to the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay and Musée de l’Orangerie, where students encountered iconic works spanning different periods and movements in art history. They also explored the Musée d’Art Moderne and the Louis Vuitton Foundation, gaining further insight into the breadth of contemporary and modern art.

The group took in some of Paris’s most famous landmarks, including Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Panthéon and the magnificent Sacré-Cœur Basilica, as well as enjoying a river cruise along the Seine to see the city from a different perspective.

Architecture and design were also high on the agenda, with visits to the Grand Palais, the Palais Garnier opera house and the spectacular Galeries Lafayette. These experiences provided further inspiration, highlighting the relationship between art, architecture and the wider visual environment.

The students also enjoyed the city’s atmosphere and culinary traditions, with a meal at the historic Bouillon Chartier adding a taste of Parisian life to their cultural adventure.

From masterpieces in world-famous galleries to the striking architecture of the city’s landmarks, the trip gave students valuable opportunities to develop their artistic knowledge, broaden their perspectives and gather inspiration for their own creative work.

It was an enriching experience that combined art, culture and discovery, making Paris an unforgettable classroom beyond the school gates.
