​RGS sporting champions seek kit sponsors

YORKSHIRE champions, national finalists and athletes representing their county have helped make it a standout year for sport at Ripon Grammar School.

Now local businesses are being invited to get behind the next generation of RGS sporting stars.

The past year has seen three RGS cricket teams crowned county champions, including a historic first for the school’s girls’ cricket programme.

But cricket is just part of the story.

The achievements are part of a wider picture of sporting success at RGS, with students competing at county, regional and national level across a wide range of sports, including hockey, rugby, swimming, football, netball and equestrian.

It has also been one of the finest athletics seasons in RGS history, with students putting in record-breaking performances, claiming national and county titles and enjoying outstanding team success.

With another busy sporting year now under way, the school is hoping local companies will help its teams continue to build on last season’s achievements by sponsoring sports team kits.

There is also the opportunity for advertising on site with new rugby and cricket scoreboards and other sports field upgrades.

Director of sport Adam Milner said: “Sport at RGS is about much more than medals and trophies. Competitive sport gives students opportunities to develop teamwork, leadership, resilience, discipline and confidence, alongside the skills needed to compete at the highest levels.

“For students, wearing smart, professional kit when representing their school creates a real sense of pride and identity.

“For sponsors, this provides an opportunity to support young people while putting their name alongside successful RGS teams at school fixtures, tournaments and competitions across the region and beyond.
