A fun-filled panto which rocks - oh yes, it does!

Year 7 students enjoyed a fun-filled production of Dick Whittington: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto at City Varieties in Leeds full of corny gags and a jukebox full of classic rock anthems and chart-toppers – not to mention a guest appearance by our very own Mr Fell! Pupils review the show, below

The pantomime, Dick Whittington, was fantastic. A wonderful experience for us all - spoilers ahead!

The plot of the panto is about Dick and his cat who rescues Alice Fitzwarren - the daughter of a very important man - from a dirty, filthy rat KING! Dick is the one who needs to go and get rid of this horrible rat before the rat is the mayor of London! There are many different characters in the panto, but I am sure everyone loved the hilarious Sarah the Cook. If you do want to watch this astounding pantomime, I suggest not taking the seat poor Mr Fell took! Otherwise, you'll accidentally become part of the cast. Anyways, the panto is full of colour, vibrant effects, lots of songs and it is the perfect place to visit at Christmas.

First of all, let me thank the school for organising such a brilliant trip to the pantomime, which was was really good because it was really well organised, and I thought the characters were brilliant, as they made it really funny. They also made it look really realistic and like you are actually there with the lights and the background of the church. The actors didn't say a single thing wrong, and they interacted with the audience very well and made it very interesting and captivating for the audience. It was a really large theatre. I think Sarah the Cook was the best as she was the one who interacted with the audience the most and she also made fun of Mr Fell. I also think the ending was really good when King Rat is pushed down into the sewer by Billy Bungalow. I also liked how they made it more interesting by adding a King Rat even though is no King Rat in the original story.

I look forward more such pantomimes in the years to come.

An afternoon of singing and laughter. Year 7 pupils had a fabulous time at the Dick Whittington panto in Leeds. Oh no they didn't... Oh yes they did...! Simon Nock was a brilliant panto Dame, keeping the audience entertained with his singing and jokes. The story was brought to life by all the cast, who also played instruments in the band. This helped give the production a rock ‘n’ roll vibe.

I would firstly like to thank all the staff who brought us to the pantomime because I had a fantastic time with my friends. I enjoyed the show because it was hilarious, especially the cook Sarah. Another reason I enjoyed it so much was that it had some historical background information in it rather than just all made up. This made it more realistic and interesting. I enjoyed watching the different musical instruments being played in the songs; especially the drums as I play the drums too. Altogether, I loved the pantomime and I hope we can go on many other trips like this.

I really enjoyed the panto. My favourite part was when we all got sprayed by water pistols and got really wet. My favourite character was Sarah she (I mean he) was a very funny and a watchable pantomime dame. I really enjoyed going and I would definitely go back.

Having set off for Leeds at 11.30am, when we arrived in the city, we headed straight for the show. Within five minutes of arrival the show began. Everyone loved it, especially the part where Mr Fell was brought up on stage to do some acting; another great part was when they were running around shooting everyone with water guns. However, when the show came to an end, everyone was disappointed and wanted it to go on forever.
