SPORT: Top runners do RGS proud

CONGRATULATIONS to our U15 boys' running team of Will Keens, George Curtis, James Pollington-Clyne and Henry Simpson, who did RGS proud when they competed in national cross-country finals in Cornwall.

The team travelled the 388-miles to Newquay with Mr Milner and Mrs Rickard the day before to prepare for the prestigious event at Tretherras School on Saturday, December 4.

Competing against the top runners from 27 schools all over the country and beset by cold, wind and hailstorms on the day, the boys tackled the challenging 4.5km hilly course with huge enthusiasm, despite the ground being boggy and slippy underfoot.

Mrs Rickard said: "To be competing against the best teams in the country was a major achievement and the boys did themselves proud, with all the extra training they undertook. They were a credit to the school, and it will be an experience they will never forget."
