RIPON Grammar School students hoping to pursue careers in medicine, veterinary science and dentistry gained valuable insight into the university application process by taking part in a series of mock interviews.
The event gave aspiring medics the opportunity to experienceMultiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) - a format commonly used by universities when selecting students for medical courses.
With the generous support of local medical professionals from Ripon and beyond, including trainee GPs, GP registrars and Rachael Baker from Bishopton Vets, students worked through six different scenarios designed to test how they would respond to a range of situations.
They also took part in a 30-minute group discussion led by Dr Chris Preece, providing further experience of the communication, teamwork and critical thinking skills required in these highly competitive professions.
The sessions offered an invaluable opportunity for students to build their confidence and develop their understanding of what to expect at interview.
Head of careers Mr Walker said: “I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the medics who gave up their valuable time to support our aspiring students. This is a truly excellent way for them to experience the interview process when applying for medicine.”
