TWO Ripon Grammar School students have made a fantastic start to their fundraising efforts for St Michael’s Hospice after a successful first outing at a local community event.

Lower sixth form students Tillie and Imara took their enterprise venture to the Green Fair, held at Ripon Methodist Hall, where they joined a variety of local stallholders.

With a tempting selection of homemade cookies, cupcakes and cinnamon buns, alongside their own handmade straw bags, the pair attracted plenty of interest and raised much-needed funds for the hospice.

The students are now hoping to build on their success with another appearance at a local fair in the New Year. In the meantime, they are already planning further fundraising activities, including a cinema night for Year 7 students, as well as exploring other creative ways to support their chosen charity.

During the Green Fair, Tillie and Imara also had the opportunity to meet some of Ripon’s civic and community representatives, including the Dean of Ripon Cathedral, The Very Reverend John Dobson, and the Mayor of Ripon, Councillor Andrew Williams, accompanied by the Lady Mayoress, Councillor Jackie Crozier.

Their enterprise project is a great example of students putting their initiative and entrepreneurial skills to good use while making a positive contribution to the local community.
