FRIENDS OF RGS: A champion quiz night

Friends of RGS chair RUTH CURTIS reports on a successful quiz night, fundraising projects and upcoming events

OUR hugely successful FRGS sell-out Quiz Night raised around £650 for school funds.

First place winners Keen on Manners, with an impressive 1589 points, were presented with the inaugural winning cup and certificates.

The Keens and the Manners families joined forces to battle it out for the trophy against 31 other teams squeezed into the school hall. Second place went to The Woolly Mammoths and third place to Quizzard of Oz.

Although fiercely competitive, with the leaders' board ever changing throughout the course of the evening, everyone had great fun and enjoyed the quiz master's selection of questions, accompanied by a round designed by our very own Mr Webb testing people's knowledge of the school and the Ripon area.

Thanks to everyone who came, helped and supported this fun evening which has gone into our memory bank! Thanks also to quizmaster Rich Howson and Domino’s Ripon for the 65 pizzas which kept those quiz brains whirring! A vast array of delicious puddings and tuck shop were also enjoyed by all. See you at the next one!

Funding

FRGS has funded three new all-weather benches for school and the renovation of four picnic tables in the sixth form area. These are now being put to good use and being enjoyed by students in the summer term.

Our next project is to upgrade picnic tables in other areas of the school. If you are able to contribute to this cause please do get in touch with FRGS by emailing friends@ripongrammar.com
