Nia's one step closer to her dream of becoming a doctor

A TALENTED young singer is one step closer to her dream of becoming a doctor after gaining top numbers in her GCSEs.

Ripon Grammar School student Nia Peedell achieved eight grade 9s, two grade 8s and a 7 in further maths.

The 16-year-old, who recently gained a distinction in her Grade 8 London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art musical theatre, will now study chemistry, biology and psychology at A-level.

Nia, who recently returned from a World Challenge expedition in Laos and Thailand and plans to go on to study medicine at university, said: "I'm really happy with my results."
