Return of the Old Rips reunion

Despite the restrictions imposed by rising Omicron cases, it was fantastic to welcome so many past pupils back to RGS for our open-air December reunion. While, thankfully, it stayed dry, very strong winds made for some interesting matches. Special thanks to Dom Butler and Nick Edwards for organising the games

Hockey match report

AFTER unfortunately having to cancel last year’s event, it was great to be back with a good turnout for the Old Rips hockey match on December 29, 2021. The Old Rips took on a team of current and recent students in a full pitch game on the school Astroturf. Thankfully, the pouring rain stopped an hour or so before pushback, but the players did well to contend with some very high winds.

The Old Rips started strongly, running to a 2-0 lead early on. However, the youngsters fought back well to take a 3-2 lead into half time. The second half was a battle, especially as the wind got so strong that one of the goals was repeatedly blown back against the fence! However, the current students dealt well with the conditions and ended up winning the match 8-3. Congratulations to Libby Rickard for a player of the match performance in attack.
