A GROUP of more than 40 old school friends who were last all together at Ripon Grammar School 52 years ago enjoyed an emotional reunion in the city.
Former students from the Class of ’74 enjoyed a tour of their alma mater, where they once shared an education and made lifelong connections and enduring friendships.
Bound by a strong sense of place, those who have moved away travelled from all over Britain, including Scotland, Wales and the south coast, to return to where it all began and rekindle old memories in the city where they grew up.
Among the familiar faces were two former teachers - Mr Postlethwaite and Mr Saul - making the day even more special and proving that the bonds built at RGS truly last a lifetime.
Their tour was followed by a meal at the Ripon Inn and a walk along the Seven Bridges at Studley Royal Deer Park.
One of the organisers, Sue Hargreaves (née Curtis), said: “The socialising was like we’d never been away.”
